I had my time on stage when I was younger, but during a show in my pre-teen years I was given a role offstage as well as a small role onstage. It was during that show when I discovered that the magic of theater happened backstage and I found out that I wanted to continue being a part of making that magic happen. I've never looked back since.
Last July, I went to find a farmer's market that I had seen advertised and discovered instead a theater. That night I went to their website and sent them an email telling them that I was interested in volunteering. And the rest, as they say, is history. Tonight is the opening night for my 6th show with Rivertown Theaters in 6 months and I am looking forward to many more shows with them.
In January, I the opportunity to work on the tech crew of a children's version of Grease, starring a group of extremely talented young people. During one of the performances I decided to take some pictures from backstage to give people an idea of what a show looks like from backstage. To me, it's the best seat in the house! I intentionally did not try to avoid having light poles, curtains or ropes in the pictures in order to present an accurate picture of what a show looks like from backstage.
